The Vernons Girls were an English musical ensemble of female vocalists. They were formed at the Vernons football pools company in the 1950s in Liverpool, settling down to a sixteen strong choir and recording an album of standards. As a 16-piece vocal group, the Vernons Girls appeared on the ITV show Oh Boy! with the house band between 1958 and 1959, and made a series of relatively successful singles for the label Parlophone between 1958 and 1961

The Vernons is a blues rock band from Australia's Gold Coast. The Vernons formed in 2011 when James Nikiforides asked Jonny Nyst to join a band he had put together with Elliot Gooch and Andrew Lahey. Lahey left the band in 2012 and was replaced by Hugh Tait; while Gooch left in 2014 and the band has since been working with guest musicians in his place.

But the Vernons Girls are worthy of mention due to their longevity across nearly a decade of the most extraordinary changes in British popular music, coupled with their eventual embrace of girl group sounds. They still didn't sound very distinctive, however, until the end of the 1950s when the Vernons Girls became a trio and began aiming for the youth market. This classic lineup consisted of Maureen Kennedy, Jean Owen, and Frances Lee, with Lyn Cornell coming in as a replacement and Joyce Barker (future wife of Marty Wilde and mother of Kim Wilde) passing through.

The Vernons may very well be ushering in Australia’s answer to modern blues. By Chloe Kay Richardson New Music The Vernons. 0. Having dished out two singles Keep on Dreaming and Snap My Fingers as well as a new EP SNAP the boys are taking their modern blues round the country on a four date tour, offering established blues fans an alternative take, and blues virgins their first taste. Snap My Fingers is a platter of chunky blues riffs, with a quick tempo, swinging vocals, lashings of indie, and an almost rockabilly intent. This track alone is a showcase of exactly the kind of music that melds together the tried and tested genres with newfangled sounds.
