Soundboard Recording. Live In Camden, New Jersey - 2004 ‎ (CD, Album, Unofficial).

Ozzy hadn’t played with Black Sabbath since a brief set at Live Aid in 1985, but he invited them to open up the show and then play a few songs with him at the end of the night, effectively bringing his career full circle. The idea didn’t sit too well with Ronnie James Dio, who had spent the year touring with Sabbath in support of their new album Dehumanizer. Dio flat out refused to open up for the former lead singer of his band and then watch in the wings as they reunited at the end of the night. Before a show in New Jersey in the summer of 2004, Ozzy got sick and Rob Halford once again took over as singer. He flubbed the lyrics to Paranoid and many in the crowd were quite upset about getting denied Ozzy at Ozzfest, but they did get to witness yet another chapter in the endless soap opera of Black Sabbath. Robert John Arthur Halford (born 25 August 1951) is an English singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist for the Grammy Award-winning heavy metal band Judas Priest. He is famous for his powerful wide-ranging voice and his trademark leather-and-studs image, both of which became iconic in heavy metal. In addition to his work with Judas Priest, he has been involved with several side projects, including Fight, Two, and Halford.

Judas Priest singer Rob Halford briefly took over Black Sabbath's lead singer duties in November 1992. In the fall of 1992, despite the fact that his career was riding high on the strength of the No More Tears album, Ozzy Osbourne decided to announce his retirement. He committed to play two farewell shows, Nov. 14 and 15, in Costa Mesa, Calif. and asked his old band, Black Sabbath, to do the honor of opening the shows. Enter another powerhouse vocalist from their native Birmingham, England, Rob Halford. Not surprisingly, he delivered the goods, as you can see above. He would reprise this role again at a concert in 2004, when Osbourne had taken ill. Osbourne's retirement was short-lived.

Rob Halford has also performed as the vocalist for Black Sabbath at three shows. He filled in for Ronnie James Dio for two shows on November 14 and November 15, 1992, following the end of the Dehumanizer tour, when Dio refused to participate in the band as an opening act for original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. On August 26, 2004, Halford filled in for Osbourne for an Ozzfest show in Camden, New Jersey, due to Osbourne being unable to perform because of bronchitis.

Former Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi says he’s open to a collaboration with Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford. And when asked if a possible collaboration between the two music icons would ever happen, Iommi says it’s something he’d like to do in the future. Judas Priest, meanwhile, are currently on tour in support of their new studio album Firepower. Earlier this week, guitarist Glenn Tipton joined his bandmates in New Jersey for Metal Gods, Breaking The Law and Living After Midnight. It was his first appearance with the band onstage since his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis came to light. Rob Halford: Metal will never die.
