A couple real gems on this one with the Dells traditional vocal layering that truly hit the mark. A few filler tracks that are bit sub-par in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this record for your soul or Dells collection. I don't know if it is the producing, or The Dells, I just don't know. Reply See 1 reply Notify me Helpful.

The Bells is the ninth solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in April 1979 by Arista Records. It is recorded in binaural sound. Several songs on the album are the product of a short-lived writing partnership between Reed and Nils Lofgren. Other of the team's work appeared on Nils' eponymous album of the same year

Say the bells of Stepney. I'm sure I don't know, Says the great bell at Bow. Here comes a candle to light you to bed, Here comes a chopper to chop off your head. Audrey Schnell wrote, "There's another verse to 'Oranges and Lemons'. I'm not sure where it fits in. It goes 'Brickbats and tiles, say the bells of St Giles'". Audrey later added, "We always knew the 'Bow' couplet as, 'I do not know, says the great bell of Bow'. The form that you've used seems more Americanized. John Smout wrote me in December 2004, "These are the full words for 'Oranges and Lemons' in your England section:" Gay go up and gay go down, To ring the bells of London town.

Hi there. Terribly sorry I didn't respond within the 5 day window. I'm not a professional seller; just a collector who lets go of a couple records here and there. If you're still interested in this first pressing of "The Springer", let me know. Happy to let it go for $20. It's a real gem of a copy.
