Brilliant (stylised as Brill!ant) is the eleventh and final studio album by British synth-pop band Ultravox. It was released on 25 May 2012 by Chrysalis Records. It is the group's first studio album in 18 years, and the first in 28 years from the "classic" Ultravox line-up of Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Warren Cann and Chris Cross (the last being 1984's Lament)

The Brilliant Corners were a British indie pop band from Bristol who recorded throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s. The group was formed in 1983, taking the name from the Thelonious Monk jazz album, Brilliant Corners. The line-up included David Woodward (b. Avonmouth, Bristol, England; vocals, guitar), Chris Galvin (1959 – 22 December 1998; bass guitar), Winston Forbes (lead guitar, percussion, backing vocals), Bob Morris (drums) and Dan (occasional trumpet and keyboards).

The group was formed in 1983, taking the name from the Thelonious Monk jazz album, Brilliant Corners. The line-up included David Woodward (vocals, guitar), Chris Galvin (bass guitar), Winston Forbes (lead guitar, percussion, backing vocals), Bob Morris (drums) and Dan Pacini (occasional trumpet and keyboards). A later addition was Phil Elvins on guitar. They splitting up after last release from 1993. Woodward and Galvin formed Experimental Pop Band in 1995, along with third member Corin Dingley. Galvin died from cancer in 1998.

Brilliant Corners, recorded for the Riverside label in 1956 with an A-list band including saxophonist Sonny Rollins and former Charlie Parker drummer Max Roach, was the most compositionally ambitious session in the former church pianist's decade-long jazz career thus far. In a legendarily fractious session, the title track's growling theme was so treacherous in its lurching phrasing and abrupt time changes that a band this good still spent 25 takes on it, and the final version was only possible by splicing two takes together.
