The Blood of Gods is the fourteenth album by thrash metal band Gwar. It was released on October 20, 2017 by Metal Blade Records. It is the band's first album without founding member Dave Brockie, who portrayed Oderus Urungus, due to his death on March 23, 2014. The album is also the first to feature Michael Bishop since 1999's We Kill Everything, albeit portraying a new character, lead singer Blöthar the Berserker, as opposed to his role as the original Beefcake the Mighty.

A new era of GWAR has begun with their first album without the iconic Oderus Urungus. Before we survey the human corpse-littered landscape left in the wake of GWAR’s latest album, The Blood of Gods, there’s some points we have to address. Yes, we’re talking about the death of Dave Brockie, who you all know best as Oderus Urungus, the alien warlord who fronted the band and slaughtered thousands during his 25-plus year reign as the front-thing of the most murderous band in history. Blothar has manned the post since 2014 and while it may seem heresy to replace Oderus (don’t forget, he wanted this band to go on forever), let’s back things up a bit.

In support of The Blood of Gods release GWAR will be on the road throughout the rest of 2017 including three shows in September with a stop at Chicago’s Riot Fest. GWAR will then return to the road On October 20th, the release date of The Blood of Gods. The first show on The Blood of Gods Tour is in their adopted home base of Richmond, Virginia and will run through December 10th in Detroit, MI.
