Merkin Ball is a companion to Young's 1995 album, Mirror Ball. It has been certified gold by the RIAA in the United States. Pearl Jam is an American rock band formed in 1990 in Seattle, Washington. Since 1998, the band has also included drummer Matt Cameron (also of Soundgarden). Boom Gaspar (keyboards) has also been a session/touring member with the band since 2002.

Vitalogy was the first Pearl Jam album with a rather difficult birth. Eddie Vedder's role in the creative process had grown significantly from their earliest days, and members of the band started to resent his role as the final decider. The band fought like crazy in the studio. Stone Gossard nearly quit, Mike McCready went to rehab for cocaine abuse and drummer Dave Abbruzzese was fired before the album even came out. Fortunately, it's hard to discern many of these issues on the album.

In 1995, they played as the backing band on Neil Young's "Mirror Ball" album and the subsequent tour. Among the band members' many side projects over the years are Brad (Stone Gossard); Mad Season & The Rockfords (Mike McCready); Three Fish & RNDM (3) (Jeff Ament); The Wellwater Conspiracy (Matt Cameron).

Following the release of a brand new song over the weekend, Pearl Jam have announced an upcoming album. It'll be the first from the grunge legends since 2013. Eddie Vedder wrote the song's lyrics set to music written by guitarist Mike McCready. Bassist Jeff Ament created the single's artwork - which can be viewed below - in collaboration with the group's longtime videographer, Kevin Shuss. The track was co-produced by Pearl Jam and O'Brien.
