Brain Drain is the eleventh studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released on March 23, 1989. It is the last Ramones release to feature alist Dee Dee Ramone, the first to feature Marky Ramone since his initial firing from the band after 1983's Subterranean Jungle and the band's last studio album on Sire Records. Despite being featured on the album, Dee Dee did not perform his usual bass duties, with several session musicians playing the bass parts instead

This one goes for a bit because it's Cosmic Baby's first release.

I didn't actively search out this release, and I see it has a following of some kind - I think it was very nicely sold to me by a guy in Great Britain for $5.00 with a pile of other releases he thought I would like, including some decent Space Teddy releases. But when I heard this one I liked it immediately. All three tracks are somewhat unique and although not totally groundbreaking they are their own thing I think. I wouldn't say they sound like anything else (such as House Of God, and I've heard House Of God), but like everything, that is entirely subjective based on your own opinion. Maybe "Injection" has elements of early acid where the 303 line is written in 3's over a 4-count beat structure - very common in those days and done by everybody from Richie Hawtin to others, why in fact, Richie Hawtin used it in about three of his tracks I can immediately think of. The looping three over four trick was very effective and I still like it to this day. Anyway, this is a pretty darn good release and I wouldn't sell mine if you begged me to, but I would sell a couple of the Space Teddy releases I got in that pile of records. This one is too cool to sell. Definitely class early techno.

"Mechanikk Gods" is a very effective minimal instrumental version of the house/techno - dub classic DHS "House of God". I could very well picture this being played in a California outdoors house party (just an example!) or any large-scale outdoors summer festival (house or rave) for that matter. The only thing this track lacks is the deliteful "fifty dollars or more" quote ... And "Injection" masterfully apes DJ Pierre (as in his acid-man Phuture disguise).
