German producers Christopher Bleckmann and Hannes Wenner began releasing material as Niederflur in 2001 with a trio of minimal techno EPs on Richie Hawtin's M nus label. Named after the vehicle that is used to travel through the U-Bahn, the subway system that runs through their home base of Cologne, the two producers incorporated the ambient sounds created by it - including voices from the PA system - into their crisp, hypnotic compositions. In 2002, M nus issued ND4, a CD compilation of the duo's 2001 releases.
