Circa (stylized as CIRCA:) is a progressive rock supergroup founded by four musicians associated with Yes: current Yes member Alan White (drums), former Yes member Tony Kaye (Hammond, keyboards), current Yes member Billy Sherwood (bass, vocals), and guitarist Jimmy Haun, who played on the Yes album Union. Since 2012, the lineup has consisted of Sherwood (vocals, guitar), Kaye (keyboards), Rick Tierney (bass), and Scott Connor (drums).

CIRCA: HQ is the second CIRCA release featuring former YES members Billy Sherwood and Tony Kaye. This album is NOT light weight prog rock that can be absorbed with a quick listen. Instead, this is a set of highly structured prog rock compositions that further establish CIRCA as an act with it's own distinct sound. If you're a "casual listener", this is likely not your cup of tea. There is no YES imitation on CIRCA HQ. Like all truly great prog albums, these are songs that must be heard a number of times, learned as it were, to be fully appreciated.

Circa's second studio album HQ is in my opinion a better album than the debut. In terms of sound, there is not much difference between these albums but the material is stronger this time and I find this album more memorable. Also, the focus has shifted slightly from catchy choruses to more instrumental workouts. As such, there is more substance in HQ compared to the debut.
