Godley & Creme were an English rock duo formed in Stockport in 1977 by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. The pair began releasing music as a duo after their departure from the rock band 10cc. In 1979, they directed their first music video with the single "An Englishman in New York".

Kevin Godley & Lou creme divided this device called "The gizmo" which I believe was a box with 5 wheels inside that would align with guitar strings and clamp to the guitars neck. The wheels had wire brushes affixed and were rotated at speed - when pressed to the guitar strings it would create these other worldly - almost string section type noise, & with added studio effects would make some of the weirdest noises recorded.

This album, the solo debut of former 10cc members Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, is generally considered to be one of the most notorious examples of '70s music-business excess. Consequences began its life as a single designed to show off the "gizmo," a musical device created by Godley & Creme that allowed an electric guitar to create symphonic-sounding textures when attached to its neck. Simply put, Consequences is a disaster: its humor is labored, its musical content is dull, and the mind-numbing length of the album proved that neither Godley nor Creme knew when to quit. The duo later proved they were capable of better and more focused satirical pop on albums like Freeze Frame, but they are lucky this creative train wreck didn't end their career before it could start.

Luckily, that also means that you can probably find a used copy of the original 1977 UK LP in pretty decent condition (because a lot of people don't listen to it over and over). This is a Brilliant Work from Lol Creme and Kevin Godley called "Consequences"; combining an INCREDIBLE ARRAY of Sounds, due mainly to the creativity of the pair listed, and a device they created called the "Gizmo"; voice, intruments, all manner of sounds can be run through and created with their Gizmo device.

I actually met Lol Creme recently, and he was incredibly happy when I told him that in my opinion Consequences is one of the greatest albums of all time.
