Commercial Breaks is the eighteenth studio album by Roy Harper. It was recorded in 1977, intended for release in 1978/79, but not officially released in its entirety until 1994. A dispute between EMI and Harper over funding and content prevented the planned release of this album (Harvest (SHSP 4077)) though a few test pressings do exist. Of the originally intended ten songs, seven were eventually released on the 1988 Awareness Records release Loony on the Bus (AWCD1011).

Roy Harper (born 12 June 1941) is an English folk rock singer, songwriter and guitarist who has been a professional musician since 1964. He has released 22 studio albums and 10 live albums. Demo recordings with Harper's newly formed backing band 'Black Sheep' (Andy Roberts, Dave Lawson, Henry McCullough, John Halsey and Dave Cochran, . Dave C. Drill) were in the first stages of a collapse in sales.

Roy Harper chronology. Song Of The Ages (1997). The album spans 28 years of Harper's recorded output and features a number of guest musicians, including; Jimmy Page, David Bedford, Keith Moon, Ronnie Lane, David Gilmour and Kate Bush. Ten Years Ago" – 3:21 (from Commercial Breaks). One Of Those Days In England (Part 1)" – 3:25 (from Bullinamingvase).

Harper was already coming off two stellar efforts in Lifemask (1973) and Valentine (1974), which marked yet another artistic peak and his introduction to American audiences. Previous settings of acoustic guitar and orchestration were supplanted by Harper's formation of Trigger, a relatively straightforward hard rock trio anchored by ace guitarist Chris Spedding and former King Crimson/Yes drummer Bill Bruford. The unit disbanded after this album, however. Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones are among the other all-star contributors on this album,.

From 1975 to 1980 Harper worked with English musician and 'Black Sheep' member Andy Roberts sometimes performing as a duo. During this period, Harper spent considerable time in the United States and signed with the US division of Chrysalis Records, who released HQ under a different title – When an Old Cricketer Leaves the Crease – and with alternative artwork. 1994 – Garden of Uranium (reissue of Descendants of Smith). 1996 – Live at Les Cousins. "Black Sheep – Roy Harper's band". Retrieved 21 February 2013.

That man is Roy Harper. There are many songs on this album in that caliber and many not quite so good. I have been a follower of Roy Harper since Folkjokeopus. Great songwriter,Great performer and I've always appreciated his wi. his is a really good follow up to Counter Culture, another great compilation. A nice selection of cuts from throughout Roy's career, leaning more toward the mellower side of his guitar.
