The Ink Spots were an American pop vocal group who gained international fame in the 1930s and 1940s. Their unique musical style presaged the rhythm and blues and rock and roll musical genres, and the subgenre doo-wop. The Ink Spots were widely accepted in both the white and black communities, largely due to the ballad style introduced to the group by lead singer Bill Kenny.

On May 19, 1942, The Ink Spots classic four went into the studio in New York City to record two tracks, Don’t Tell A Lie About Me Dear (And I Won’t Tell the Truth About You) and Who Wouldn’t Love You?. Neither song ended up making the charts, but both are enjoyable songs. The first is a standard Ink Spots style ballad, with lyrics about someone done wrong in a romance, but Who Wouldn’t Love You? is the rare upbeat Ink Spots song that features verses from Bill Kenny, Deek Watson, and Hoppy Jones, all of whom sing one verse before Kenny returns at the end for the final. Today marks a very important anniversary in the history of The Ink Spots. On this day in 1936, The Ink Spots made their first recordings for Decca Records. This also happens to be the debut of Bill Kenny with the group, having replaced Jerry Daniels, who had decided to retire from the band earlier in the year.

High Fidelity is a 2000 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Stephen Frears. The film is based on the 1995 British novel of the same name by Nick Hornby, with the setting moved from London to Chicago and the name of the lead character changed. After seeing the film, Hornby expressed his happiness with Cusack's performance, saying that "at times, it appears to be a film in which John Cusack reads my book.
