Mozart: Overture by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Sir Colin Davis. One person found this helpful. Sir Colin Davis' early 1960s recordings of "Serenata Notturna" and Overtures to "Abduction from the Seraglio," "The Magic Flute," "Don Giovanni" and "Cosi fan Tutte" are in excellent sound, the Philharmonia (Serenata) and Royal Philharmonic (Overtures) sounding terrific, again rich, full and masculine, as in Steinberg's recordings. With over 70 minutes of music, this disc is a winner, unless you are a fan of chamber orchestra or period instrument orchestra Mozart. For great sound and playing at a budget price, this is hard to beat

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), based in London, is a British Orchestra that was formed by Sir Thomas Beecham in 1946. In its early days, the orchestra secured profitable recording contracts and important engagements including the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the concerts of the Royal Philharmonic Society.

Mono and stereo versions have same number on back of sleeve (T/4063) - the mono version has "T-4063" on beige 'strobe' label, while the stereo has "ST-4063" on green 'strobe' label. The stereo version has a printed "stereo" rosette on the back, and the mono has a red sticker with "mono" placed over this (though these tend to drop off with age).
