The Black Sessions is the second greatest hits compilation album by Swedish metal band Katatonia, released on February 21, 2005 through Peaceville. The compilation includes hit songs, B-sides and rarities recorded on the band's previous studio albums (from Tonight's Decision to Viva Emptiness). A live DVD for the band performing in Krakow, Poland in April 2003 is also included in the compilation. Viva Emptiness is the sixth full-length album by Katatonia, released in 2003 by Peaceville Records. On the album's tenth anniversary in 2013, it was re-released, featuring a new mix, mastering, and additional keyboard arrangements.

Shivaree officially separated in 2007 after a very brief promotional tour of its last album, Tainted Love. The band has mentioned its use of primarily Southern American ideas and themes, citing William Faulkner as an influence. After contract disagreements with its previous label, the group appeared about to split up after its second album. However, an EP and another two albums followed. Great Balls of Fire (Live) – was an unofficial promo release of "The Black Sessions 2002" (The Black Sessions are performances of the live music broadcast on the French Radio station ‘France Inter‘. These are recorded in front of a live audience and featured on a C‘est Lenoir show. A French Radio DJ‘s name is Bernard Lenoir ).

Black Sessions are performances of live music broadcast on the French radio station France Inter. They are recorded in front of a live audience and feature on the C'est Lenoir show. Shivaree was an Americana band formed in 1997 consisting of Ambrosia Parsley (vocals), Danny McGough (keyboard), and Duke McVinnie (guitar). Shivaree is best known for the song "Goodnight Moon", released in 1999, heard in Dawson's Creek, Kill Bill: Volume 2, and Silver Linings Playbook. The Black EP is an EP by American rock band Interpol, released in August 2003 by EMI Records. It includes "Say Hello to the Angels", a demo version of "NYC", and four live recordings from the Black Sessions recorded on French radio station Radio France.
