Rank is the only live album by English band the Smiths. It was released in September 1988 by their British record company Rough Trade, and reached No. 2 in the British charts. In the United States, the album was released on Sire Records and made No. 77. Rank was released as a contractual obligation.

Originally recorded with producer Troy Tate, Morrissey and Rough Trade were underwhelmed by what they heard and hired John Porter to fix it, who felt the album’s problems were so severe that it should be re-recorded from scratch.

It was recorded within two months of The Smiths' very last concert and forms a bridge between the release of "The Queen Is Dead" and subsequent material such as "Panic", "Is It Really So Strange" and "Ask". The death of The Smiths was by no means assured when "Rank" was recorded but it was a fact of history by the time it was released.
