In 1973, Jackson released a solo album that failed to chart. After the Jackson 5 became The Jacksons after leaving Motown for CBS Records in 1976, Jackson's role as a vocalist and songwriter increased. He added a lead vocal alongside brother Michael on their top ten Epic single, "Enjoy Yourself", and also added composition on six of the group's albums with Epic. Jackson's voice changed to a lower tenor vocal style during the Epic years.

Jackie Jackson was born on May 4th, 1951 in Gary, Indiana – the eldest of the Jackson brothers. He started dance and tap lessons at age of four, and his signature high voice led him to become co-lead singer of The Jackson Five and The Jacksons. In 1973, at the age of 22, Jackie released his first solo album, self-titled Jackie Jackson  . In November 2010, Jackie returned to the music scene with the release of his single, ‘We Know What’s Going On’. Jackie also released a collaborative version of We Know What’s Going On with the South African artist Jacques Terre’Blanch.

Jackson’s appearance on Winfrey’s show after a long haitus from the spotlight, is not the last you’ll hear from him this year. He just released his first single since 1989 called We Know What’s Going On, and he’s also releasing a Jackson 5 clothing line called J5 Collection. The episode – which airs Thursday – features appearances and performances by additional teen heartthrobs of years past, including Shaun Cassidy (pictured), Peter Frampton and the Backstreet Boys, who were joined by ex-bandmate Kevin Richardson for a one-time reunion.
