Aura Noir were the first signings to the Tyrant Syndicate Productions label - an imprint of Peaceville Records - founded by Nocturno Culto of Darkthrone, with "The Merciless" being the label's first release. On March 26, 2005 Aggressor fell (jumped?) from a fourth floor building.

In this album, the band experiments with new sounds reminiscent of Aggressor's Avant-Garde proyect "Virus".

Aura Noir is a Norwegian black/thrash metal band from Oslo, Norway. Aura Noir is heavily influenced by early thrash bands such as Voivod, Slayer, Sodom and Kreator, to the latter they have also dedicated some of their songs. The band's main lyrical themes focus on blasphemy, death, and aggression. The band was formed in 1993 by Aggressor (Carl-Michael Eide) and Apollyon (Ole Jørgen Moe), who sent out a couple of demos before releasing the underground EP Dreams Like Deserts in 1995.

Talk about Aura Noir - Aura Noire

Whitemaster
Album itself is great, but it seems LP version was cutted from the same (compressed) master as CD: waveform (ripped from vinyl) speaks for itself... CD version of Aura Noire is compressed as Hell. Sadly that loudness shit spreaded over underground bands like Aura Noir and so on, and now it's a kind of lottery: to get best possible sound quality on vinyl releases (almost all CD releases are overcompressed) with max dynamic range or lost money on plastic CD-copy with clicks and pops
Coiriel
Even Darkthrone releases controversial albums in terms of dynamic compression: you easily find a lot of interviews with Fenriz about RIGHT drum sound, false metal and dynamic compression of course. Should we pay for a compressed (=destroyed original) music? I don't think so. Just listen to (original) Morbid Tales mini-LP for 1000 times, before you decide to release another compressed-as-hell album.

Plaque_Mass i 100% agree with every word of yours! this is what's fucked up on thsi album, for me it s probably the end of AN
