Bloody Night" is a great song, but also the happier, more upbeat sort of number as opposed to the other songs on the album, which possess more of a melancholic groove. Also, the guitar solo on "Bloody Night" is awesome too but nowhere close to the delightful wickedness gleamed off of "Evil Cathedral" and "Glint Of The Knife". Therefore, the single, as great as it is, fails to ardently convey the band's rueful, lugubrious zeal (the "jocose" element, however, is ever-present). Consider the Bloody Night single essential for crazed, die-hard Amuleteers such as myself. Either way, though, you can't go wrong with Amulet's aforementioned full-length debut, The First, as well as its preceding Cut The Crap demo, as they're both choice heavy metal cuts in the truest sense of the word.
