He has conducted orchestra in the . and Japan and serves as artistic director of the Next Generation Festival. Mr. Pratt is Assistant Professor of Piano and Artist in Residence at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Awadagin Pratt was born in Pittsburgh on March 6, 1966. He began studying piano at age six and violin at age nine. His parents moved the family to Normal Illinois when they both were hired by the Illinois State University in 1975. His 2011 releases are Brahms Works for Cello and Piano with Zuill Bailey on Telarc and a recording of the music of Judith Lang Zaimont with the Harlem Quartet for Navona Records.

Born in Pittsburgh, Awadagin Pratt began studying piano at the age of six. Three years later, having moved to Normal, Illinois, with his family, he also began studying violin. At the age of 16, he entered the University of Illinois where he studied piano, violin, and conducting. His most recent recordings are the Brahms Sonatas for Cello and Piano with Zuill Bailey for Telarc and a recording of the music of Judith Lang Zaimont with the Harlem Quartet for Navona Records. Pratt is currently a Professor of Piano at the of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
