A Secret Wish is the debut album by German synthpop band Propaganda. Released by ZTT Records in 1985, it was produced by Stephen Lipson under the supervision of label boss Trevor Horn. The singles "Duel" and "Dr. Mabuse" were both Top 30 UK chart hits

I wish (a secret wish perhaps?) that people were able to hear Propaganda's original demos which were like hearing Propaganda as done by The Fall or someone. The bore no resemblance at all to what became their first album. It's my opinion that a bit like Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Propaganda was really an experimental platform for Horn and Lipson to indulge their pop and prog rock sensibilities (hence the participation of musicians such as Steve Howe and Ian Mosely & Horn and Lipson's own affinity with pop, rock, and prog), as well as becoming acknowledged experts of the Fairlight and.

There's a distinct lack of songwriting on the album, and though the synth-grooves are tight enough to keep it flowing for most of its length, A Secret Wish occasionally falls flat from its own weight.

BRILLIANT! I love this album! It deserves to be in the hall of fame. Questo è un Lp BUONO, che sottovalutai persino io all'epoca, a risentirlo dopo anni si sente che i Propaganda meritavano più vendite, non avevano look e solo Duel era "commerciale"(il testo tutt'altro che banale però), lo stesso p-machinery, che pur fu trasmesso in radio e discoteche, già non era da massa "leggera".
