The Ocean - Pelagial flac album

David Fischer A seriously beautiful contribution to post-metal. The album truly sounds like a decent into deep waters. Light and friendly in the beginning and furious towards the end. A great, downward journey. The element can be felt here. Alex Jesus Concept album done at its finest. It's nice how both versions of the album can be different, yet completely amazing experiences.

PHANEROZOIC: After 5 years of touring on Pelagial, the band started recording their 8th studio album in February 2018, split into two volumes to be separately released in 2018 and 2020 respectively, titled Phanerozoic. The Phanerozoic eon succeeded the Precambrian supereon, spanning a 500 million-year period leading to the present day, and it has witnessed the evolution and diversification of plant and animal life on Earth, and the partial destruction of it during 5 mass extinction events.

They stated that recording would get under way in early 2012 and hinted at the possibility of releasing another double album The band released Pelagial on April 29, 2013 in the United States

For their latest effort The Ocean plunges into the depths of (ironically) the ocean, and the human conscienceness. I feel safe to say that this album must be the most solid release the band put out to date. What impresses me the most about this album, is the fact that The Ocean plays all these different genres so naturally. Whereas some tracks on Heliocentric and Anthropocentric sounded a little clumsy and unnatural, Pelagial sees the band blending a broad variety of styles with sheer perfection

Pelagial is a dense album, too. It’s the kind of disc that seems to constantly provide new experiences long after release. Pelagial is one of the strongest albums The Ocean have put out yet, especially for those who loved Heliocentric and Anthropocentric. The raw aggression and sludge aspect from earlier albums also returns, so it feels like the band have succeeded in combining all of their elements into one high mark on Pelagial.
