Pienza Ethnorkestra biography Pienza Ethnorkestra was formed in 2001 by the duo of Daniel Jeand'heur (drums) and Thierry Bruneau (electric hurdy gurdy; plays in One Shot) who played and recorded under the name Pienza. They were later joined by James Mcgaw (bass ; who plays among others in Magma) and started touring France. Two other musicians occasionally joined them for these shows : Greg THEVENIAU (bass, guitar ; also plays in Snake Oil among others) and Boris BLANCHET (saxophone).

The name Pienza Ethnorkestra might give an impression that we are dealing with a folk band, and that’s partially true, but it’s certainly not a typical one. Three musicians that form it’s core: Thierry Bruneau, Daniel Jeand’heur and James McGaw are very active individuals who are mainly known to the public through their other projects. All arrangements are done really well as the whole album feels consistent in every aspect. The sound i. nforgettable. Upfront is the hurdy gurdy.
