Tapestry of Webs is the debut studio album by Past Lives. It was released on February 23, 2010. The album was recorded during the late summer and early fall of 2009. Initial tracking took place at Avast! Studios, with vocals and various overdubs at Steve Fisk's house. The album was produced, engineered, and mixed by Steve Fisk. Mastering was done by Ed Brooks at RFI Mastering. Falling Spikes" − 2:40. Don’t Let the Ashes Fill Your Eyes" − 3:26.

Past Lives is a Seattle-based group consisting of former members of The Blood Brothers, with ex-Shoplifting guitarist Morgan Henderson filling out the lineup. With solid if unassuming Seattle producer extraordinaire Steve Fisk behind the board for the band’s debut album, Tapestry of Webs is a bright mix of sounds and styles that veers from the slow, reflective pace of Paralyzer into the quirky house-shake of Falling Spikes where singer Jordan Billie tweaks his delivery to sound like Pere Ubu’s David Thomas undergoing an. anxiety attack.

Though three-fourths of the members of Past Lives are from the scorched-earth screamo/punk-metal Blood Brothers, there's nothing on the group's debut LP that offers a hint to their background. The EP that preceded it, Strange Symmetry, had some more cathartic moments- as well as singer Jordan Blilie's hoarse, isle screaming- but Tapestry of Webs is a clean break from the past. Say what you will about their former band, but by the end of their career, Blood Brothers were anything but one-note.

Album Tapestry of Webs.

Past Lives’ debut album Tapestry of Webs had high expectations swirling around it, and not just because the band featured the half of the Blood Brothers who didn’t become Jaguar Love (Jordan Blilie, Morgan Henderson and Mark Gajadhar). With the addition of former Shoplifting guitarist Devin Welch and production by Steve Fisk, a lot of heavyweight names in the Pacific Northwest experimental rock/punk scene were affiliated with the project. The band spends the first half of the album defying any other expectations fans might have about Past Lives being Blood Brothers .

On Tapestry of Webs, Past Lives reveal a marked detraction from it; and that’s about all you need to know with that subject. Tapestry of Webs is a bit jarring and almost menacing at times, but they don’t forget to put a little meaning and purpose behind it, too. They successfully toe the line between "interesting" and plain old "self-indulgence. The roller-coaster of Tapestry of Webs is definitely jarring, exciting, and elusive at times. There’s surprises round every corner- expecting a lull" You get a scream- expecting a chorus" Here’s a quirky horn section for you. It has its down-moments, of course, but for the vast majority of their latest, Past Lives commands that you be on the edge of your seat.

Tapestry Of Webs is one of the more entertaining and refreshing, nonsensical art punk endeavours of the last 10 years or s. Well, Tapestry Of Webs is dodgy but it’s not completely lost in its own web of art rock innovation and the hardcore backbone of the roots of this web can still be traced. With former Blood Brother Johnny Whitney out of the picture, lead singer Jordan Billie is left alone and able to adapt to these new, far more sublime soundscapes.
