Memory Driven is the man’s new band and Relative Obscurity is their debut album. Considering the pedigree of both Cornelius and his label I Hate when it comes to quality doom I was quite eager to listen to this album. Memory Driven play a sort of bottom heavy doom rock that is sort of similar to latter day Katatonia but with enough originality in the songwriting to come across as quite original. The band is held together by Conrnelius’s guitar playing and the man does write some quality songs.
Memory Driven - Relative Obscurity (I Hate Records ) By Chris Barnes September 21, 2009. Dennis Cornelius is one of the most prolific songwriters in Doom Metal. history, effectively stepping in the huge pair of shoes that John Brenner left behind for Revelation’s magnificent 1995 releas. Yet So Far" and the mind-blowing "Frozen Masque" demos. He went on to form OverSoul and release one of the most brilliant and soulful Doom-oriented recordings I’ve personally heard with 2000’s "Seven Days in November".
MEMORY DRIVEN – Relative Obscurity.
Combining with several like-minded individuals following the disbandment of Dwell Within, Cornelius birthed his Memory Driven project with promising debut Relative Obscurity in 2009, before returning two years later with exceptional sophomore album, Animus.
