Album · 2007 · 8 Songs. The Peaking Goddess Collective featuring Tanina Munchkina.

Composed By – The Peaking Goddess Collective. Flute, Electronics – Pearce van der Merwe. Graphics, Artwork – Ajja, Tanina Munchkina. The percussion is totally badass, and the electronic beats and sounds are extremely well done. Even the flute is tastefully used-not too much, just enough.

Complete your The Peaking Goddess Collective collection. However, what ruined this release for me was the guitar! In most of the songs it seemed off-key from the rest of the music and generally did not fit in with the rest of the arrangements. Bottom line: if you like jam band-style music, you'll probably dig this

The Peaking Goddess Collective is a four piece group from Switzerland, and they specialize in the ethnic psybient music akin to Shpongle and Ott. Their sound usually consists of downtempo eastern-styled beats, with deep bass lines and much use of flutes and classical guitar, with acid-fried vocal samples and various percussive instruments. It is clear that this particular collective take their music very seriously, as they often tour to various festivals and parties around the world and play long and extravagant sets, and the four members all seem to be involved equally at every show

Talk about The Peaking Goddess Collective - Organika

Others have commented already and I'll add my voice to the chorus: if you like Phutureprimitive or Shulman or Shpongle or Younger Brother or Easily Embarrassed you'll be at home here. Seriously solid stuff here, and that's something from someone as addicted to one-hundred-percent-pure synthesizer-based music as I am. As another writer said, you can totally tell that this record was produced by some seriously proficient musicians. My favourite cut of the record has to be "Rolling," which bumps along subtly in a manner reminiscent of Ultimae Records' undulating and meditative swells (think Cell or Aes Dana.) Recommended.

I agree with vitamin420's review of this album; it is obviously created by some super talented musicians. The percussion is totally badass, and the electronic beats and sounds are extremely well done. Even the flute is tastefully used--not too much, just enough. However, what ruined this release for me was the guitar! In most of the songs it seemed off-key from the rest of the music and generally did not fit in with the rest of the arrangements. Bottom line: if you like jam band-style music, you'll probably dig this. However, if you have an aversion to guitars in electronic music (like me), you may grimace at times when listening to this album. Aside from that, it's something every Shpongle fan should hear.

I loved the guitars on this release (along with everything else). Just saying :).

Wow, I can't believe this hasn't been reviewed...Honestly, I signed up for this site (after many months of lurking) just to post a review about this album. If you are looking for some authentic downtempo tribal, look no further - the hand-drumming is hypnotic, the flute and guitar are beautiful and full of life, and the album flows perfectly from song to song... it's obvious right from the get-go that there is a lot of genuine love for music, I mean look at how many talented musicians that are so diverse in their musical capabilities... man, I have been looking for something great for a long time, and I think I definitely found it. If you like anything by Master Margherita, Dymons, or Flooting Grooves, and you haven't heard this, then you need to buy this album! Also, fans of Phutureprimitive will enjoy this. If you guys are looking to something somewhat similar, check out Slackbaba - ... And The Beat Goes Om...mmm. I love this. 5/5
