I first listened to Alexander Brailowsky's LP of the Chopin Polonaises when I was in high school studying the A-major Polonaise. Brailowsky was an amazing Chopin player. It is true that the Columbia sound was on the harsh side, but these are splendid performances, and on CD you get the Fantasie-Impromptu, Tarantella, and Berceuse to boot. Many would do well to remember that the piano IS a percussion instrument, not a stringed one, per se. The hammer must strike the stings to produce sound (except, of course, in the case of overtones or depressing the sustaining pedal).

Frédéric Chopin's Fantaisie-Impromptu (Polish: Fantazja-Impromptu) in C♯ minor Op. posth. 66 is a solo piano composition. It was composed in 1834 and published posthumously in 1855 despite Chopin's instruction that none of his unpublished manuscripts be published. The Fantaisie-Impromptu is one of Chopin's most frequently performed and popular compositions.
