Anyone who has followed Comet Gain since their formation in 1993 has to be somewhat astonished that the band would still be releasing records 15 years later. Their existence is a volatile story of lineup overhauls, rotating members, label changes, shambolic to the point of disastrous live shows, and a general disregard for playing by the rules you have to play by to be a "real" band.

Comet Gain is a British indie rock band with heavy influences from Dexys Midnight Runners and northern soul. The band includes ex-Huggy Bear bass player Jon Slade and included future Velocette members Sarah Bleach and Jax Coombes. Comet Gain was started in David Feck's bedroom in Oxford, United Kingdom in 1992. He roped in housemate Phil Sutton, (The Soft City) to play drums, and then persuaded Sarah Bleach and Jax Coombes, who lived round the corner to join.

Comet Gain's first release was two tracks on Wiiija compilation EP Some Hearts Paid To Lie in 1993, alongside three riot grrrl bands. Following an EP on Soul Static Sound in 1994, Comet Gain signed with Wiiija and released debut album Casino Classics and a further EP in 1995.
