You've Come a Long Way, Baby is the second studio album by English electronic music producer Fatboy Slim. It was first released on 19 October 1998 in the United Kingdom by Skint Records and a day later in the United States by Astralwerks. Cook recorded and produced the album at his home studio in Brighton, known as the House of Love, using an Atari ST computer, Creator software, and floppy disks

Oh my, talk about albums that haven't aged well! The whole album seems very much tied to its time, there really is no timeless quality to this. Most tracks (The Rockafeller Skank being a prime example) are gimmicky up to the point of being downright annoying and the sounds/samples are pretty crude (and not in a good way!). Of course the album has its high points - Right Here, Right Now, Praise You and Acid 8000 are all fantastic tracks but the rest are severely lacking in comparison. I suppose the biggest disappointment is that the album sounds so different to what I remembered.

The album was recorded at Fatboy Slim's home studio called "The House of Love" in Brighton, England. The album was a critical and commercial success, containing four top ten singles.

Fatboy Slim will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his classic ‘You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby’ album with a vinyl reissue. The ‘meal deal’ LPs come delivered in a very snazzy, stencilled pizza box. It will also come with a t-shirt made in the same design as the original album’s cover star, replacing the caption I’m So Why Try Harder with I’m #2. .Fatboy Slim – real name Norman Cook – recorded the iconic big beat LP in his Brighton studio.

After giving it a spin, it sounds amazing. A well done reissue, great quality with no hiss or pops on my copy.
