Wild Beasts' third studio album, entitled Smother, was released in May 2011. The band subsequently announced the addition of touring band member Katie Harkin from Sky Larkin. They won the 2011 London Awards for Art and Performance. The band released their fourth studio album Present Tense on 24 February 2014. Their fifth studio album, Boy King was released on 5 August 2016 also on Domino Records. On 25 September 2017, Wild Beasts announced their disbandment. An EP, Punk Drunk & Trembling, was released on 20 October 2017

Present Tense is the fourth studio album by Wild Beasts, released 24 February 2014 on Domino Records. It was preceded by the single "Wanderlust" released on the same da. .Following a two-year-long world tour in promotion of their third album Smother, the band admitted to feelings of burn out by the experience and in late 2012 announced that they would take a year off from touring to concentrate on writing and recording the follow-up.

Idiosyncratic Kendal quartet Wild Beasts have announced the follow-up to their majestic 2011 album Smother. Due out on February 25 on Domino, Present Tense was co-produced by Lexxx and Brian Eno collaborator Leo Abrahams and recorded at The Kinks’ Konk Studios in London and The Distillery in Bath. The first single to be taken from the album, ‘Wanderlust’, is a tense and quietly dramatic slow-burner built on layers of synthetic vocal patterns. The band have also announced a tour of UK and Europe, beginning in Paris on 18 February and winding up in Brussels on 15 April.

Present Tense's implosive sound reflects the fact that comedowns and consequences cast a longer shadow over Wild Beasts' songs than they used to. On "Mecca," Hayden Thorpe, Tom Flemming, and company spend more time yearning for pleasure than experiencing it. Even on more sensual songs like "Wanderlust" (which is rhymed with "voluptuous"), Thorpe sounds more jaded than brazen when he sings "Don't confuse me with someone who gives a fuck," providing the album's manifesto
