A Hole in the Sock of Dave Davies refers to an unreleased album of solo material by Dave Davies, lead guitarist and co-founder of British rock band The Kinks.

Dave Davies Hidden Treasures has probably taken as much work to pulling together as the Picture Book box set did. In my humble opinion it a very important release.

The CD contains what are believed to be the genuine original stereo mixes of the twelve proposed album songs – three of these unissued in any form until this release – with some alternative versions in mono, plus the other Dave songs that did see the light of day as solo singles, as components ofSomething Else By The Kinks or as B-sides of later. Kinks 45s: twenty-seven cuts in all. Despite their piecemeal production over two years, the proposed album tracks exhibit commendable homogeneity and the quality is consistently high with respect both to composition and to performance, offering a set.

David Russell Gordon Davies (born 3 February 1947) is an English singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is the lead guitarist, backing (and occasional lead) singer for the English rock band The Kinks, which also featured his older brother Sir Ray Davies. In 2003, Davies was ranked 91st in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".

Dave Davies of the Kinks is set to release Decade. The album, which arrives Oct. 12, is a collection of unreleased songs he recorded from 1971-79. You can listen to the lead single, "Cradle to the Grave," below. I am so pleased that after all this time these tracks are being released to see the light of day," he said in a press release. Decade can be considered to be a companion piece to 2011’s Hidden Treasures, which spotlighted songs he wrote in the '60s. Although his brother Ray wrote the majority of the Kinks material, Dave penned several great songs, such as "Death of a Clown" from Something Else and the Arthur-era outtakes "Mindless Child of Motherhood" and "This Man He Weeps Tonight
