Philip David Ochs (/ˈoʊks/; December 19, 1940 – April 9, 1976) was an American protest singer (or, as he preferred, a topical singer) and songwriter who was known for his sharp wit, sardonic humor, earnest humanism, political activism, insightful and alliterative lyrics, and distinctive voice. He wrote hundreds of songs in the 1960s and 1970s and released eight albums.

There and Now: Live in Vancouver 1968 was a 1990 (or early 1991) archival release of a concert by Phil Ochs in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at the PNE Garden Auditorium on Thursday, March 13, 1969. Performing solo with guitar (except on "The Bells," where Allen Ginsberg played the bells), Ochs was worn, weary and despairing in the aftermath of the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Late in 1968, Phil Ochs and Allen Ginsberg performed together in Vancouver at some kind of peace and poetry concert, the tapes of which were recently discovered in A&M Records' vaults. Unfortunately, Ginsberg could not recall the concert and there was no information written on the tape boxes. All I know about the show is that it's one of the most intimate performances I've ever heard from my brother.

From the "Live in Vancouver 1968" album, which was released in 1990. He does the dylan reference in the studio album too, and the ship coming in line is a reference too. What's the inspiration behind the song? 4 years назад. thesecretlives ofcats. Jerry, was it true that he had lost his voice? And did you see him any other times? Curious. Last time I saw him in concert was at Max's Kansas city, he had fallen from grace by then.

There but for Fortune (album). There but for Fortune was a 1989 compilation that summed up the three albums that Phil Ochs recorded for Elektra Records between 1964 and 1966. The album drew heavily from the third, presenting ten of its eleven tracks, and presenting six and five respectively from the first and second.
