A concept album is an album in which its tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. This is typically achieved through a single central narrative or theme, which can be instrumental, compositional, or lyrical. Sometimes the term is applied to albums considered to be of "uniform excellence" rather than an LP with an explicit musical or lyrical motif. There is no consensus among music critics as to the specific criteria for what a "concept album" is.

Greatest Songs of the 1940s spotlights 33 hits released in that decade including Billie Holiday's "God Bless the Child," Glenn Miller's "Chattanooga Choo Choo," the Andrews Sisters' "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)," and Bing Crosby's "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive. This is an inexpensive way to collect these songs in one package.

Both Directions at Once: The Lost Album is a studio album recorded by saxophonist John Coltrane for Impulse! Records that was first released in 2018. The recordings were made in 1963 during Coltrane's Classic Quartet period and lost for decades. Both Directions at Once was recorded in Van Gelder Studio in New Jersey on March 6, 1963, by saxophonist John Coltrane and his Quartet: double bassist Jimmy Garrison, drummer Elvin Jones, and pianist McCoy Tyner.

Various coats in 1941. Early 1940s coats were very square and usually plain. They had a few large buttons down the front, plain or cuffed narrow sleeves, and a variety of necklines. They were long, down to the knee, to keep warm and covered up. Shorter box coats hung to the hip in a wide cape like fashion with big bell sleeves. Fur trims were still very popular like in the ’30s. 1940s Shoes Styles- Vintage on the left, new inspired styles on the right. Shoes of the 1940s lacked the elaborate detailing of the ’30s and were mostly plain, sturdy and chunky. What makes them special is not the style but the material. Leather was needed for the war, so shoes came in velvet, mesh, reptile skins, and even all wood (clogs). Heels were short and thick in the early ’40s and slightly thinner in the late 1940s. The later shoes were called pumps. The 1940s were notable for the popularization for the wedge or wedgie.

The album catches Christian away from the highly-structured surroundings of his rent-paying gigs, the Benny Goodman sextet and orchestra, jamming with fellow revolutionaries Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie. The LP consists of two, hard-driving, nine-minute workouts. In the 1950s and early 1960s, the anthology was a primary resource for a new generation of folk musicians, and Bob Dylan and Joan Baez were among those who acknowledged its importance. In The Wee Small Hours is a noir-ish collection of standards dealing with loneliness and broken relationships and was released in 1955 on two 10 LPs and also as a 12. Despite its introspective ambiance, it reached number two in the US charts.

In the late 1940s end early 1950s, following the consequences of World War II, the public did not look for brave new ideas and styles, but for comfort and reassurance in literature. However, by 1955 the old values which religion and nation had traditionally provided were being questioned, and a new generation of critical young novelists, playwrights and artists emerged. The 1950s where characterized by the appearance of Neorealism, a trend which worked against Modernism. A new consciousness of the peculiarity of women's outlook and social role opens up new directions for women's writing. In the last years of his life Greene lived in the small resort city on Lake Geneva in Switzerland. In 1981 he was awarded the Jerusalem Prize, given to writers concerned with 'the freedom of the individual in society'. He died in 1991 at the age of 86.
