An anthology covering some vital tracks from Charlie Parker's Savoy period. This anthology was an attempt at condensing the huge Savoy box down to a more manageable (and less expensive) greatest hits set. There's too many superb performances to accurately convey their excellence this way, but for people who don't want to hear Parker's full Savoy output, it does give a reasonable overview.

CHARLIE PARKER Original Bird The Best of Bird on Savoy - Savoy SJL 1208 SEALED. Charlie Parker "The Very Best of Bird" 2WB3198. The Best of The Bird Contents.

This is a list of Charlie Parker's recordings. Parker recorded extensively for three labels: Savoy, Dial, and Verve. His work with these labels has been chronicled in box sets. The listing below is in the form of a sessionography as opposed to a discography. Charlie Parker - Apartment Jam Sessions (Zim ZM 1006). Our Best (Clef MGC 639).

Best of The Complete Savoy & Dial Studio Recordings. Audio CD. Charlie Parker. While the most brilliant flowers of Parker's creativity bloomed before that contract began, this set documents in meticulous detail Bird's longest relationship with a single record company and a period in which he was the most influential musician in jazz. While labels such as Savoy and Dial had been limited to recording Parker in the small groups he worked with regularly, Granz's greater resources allowed Parker to undertake the more expansive projects he sought, such as the famous recordings with strings, heard here in their entirety
