Erase Errata has been played on NTS shows including NJinLA, with Tongue Tied first played on 18 November 2016. Erase Errata are a band from San Francisco, California. Their music draws inspiration from experimentalists such as Captain Beefheart, The Fall, and disco-influenced post-punk. Since forming in 1999, the band has released several albums as well as a number split singles with various other bands including Black Dice, The Need, Numbers and Sonic Youth. We team up with China Social Club once a month for some radio, live from Shanghai. Expect far-ranging sets from local DJs and record labels, bringing everything from Canto-Pop, Eccentric 80s dance tunes, Japanese, house, Chinese indie and rock.

Erase Errata are an all girl band from the Bay Area of San Francisco. They deal in intense scratchy sub Beefheart guitar lines and poinging over-exited bass. There are fast, jittery white funk rhythms and discordant climaxes. Their singer rants "I am a bird of prey!". Song titles like "Retreat! The Most Familiar" and "A Thief Detests the Criminal, Elements of the Ruling Class" give you the idea of the territory: post riot girl, left-field and left wing. For me, the best moments are incidental, the fluttery freeform section at the end of "Ca. Viewing" or the bits where the guitar just wigs out completely. There's a kind of manic pleasure here. And they are probably great live. But in 2003, it just seems a bit old fashioned.
