Album · 2007 · 10 Songs. For someone of Siouxsie Sioux’s obvious starpower, she’s been surprisingly shy as a solo performer, releasing her debut solo disc over thirty years since her stage debut. Her once groundbreaking sounds as a pioneer of the gothic sound with the Banshees (and her later work with the Creatures) are now the pillars from which entire careers are made. Her singing influence can be heard if never quite imitated, as she’s never stuck to a single mannerism long enough to effectively parody.

Mantaray" is a beautiful album and probably Siouxsie's most personal one to date. Here Comes That Day' and 'Loveless' (presumably, another stab at her ex) are also fine tracks. This lady has still got her looks, charm, talents and sting, and 'Mantaray' is proof. 3 people found this helpful.

Siouxsie Sioux's extensive musical career is something that most singers would envy having; whether leading the Banshees or fronting the Creatures, her strong voice, sharp eye for detail, and embrace of any number of styles have remained touchstones for numerous performers since. Following on a couple of years from both a celebratory tour and her fine turn on Basement Jaxx's Kish Kash, her full solo debut, Mantaray, is a bit of a different effort for her, though with a couple of drawbacks.
