Felt is a 2011 album by German composer Nils Frahm. It was released on 7 October 2011 on Erased Tapes records. The name of the record refers to Nils placing felt on the strings of his piano, initially to dampen the sound to enable nighttime playing and later as he liked the sound it produced. The album was also recorded with the microphones deep within the piano which was seen to provide a more intimate sound.

Nils Frahm had an early introduction to music, learning the piano throughout his childhood. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of classical pianists from previous generations as well as the music of contemporary composers, before forging his own musical path through composition. 2013 saw Nils return with his new album Spaces to critical acclaim, expressing his love for experimentation and answering the call from his fans for a record that truly reflects what they have witnessed during his live shows. Recorded over a period of two years the album captured live performances from various of his concerts worldwide.

Today Nils Frahm releases the extended 5-track player Encores 1! With only twelve out of sixty initial sketches forming All Melody, there was so much more music that needed to be heard. For the past two years, Nils Frahm has been building a brand new studio in Berlin to make his 7th studio album titled All Melody, which will be released on January 26th, 2018 via Erased Tapes, before Nils embarks on his first world tour since 2015. Nils Frahm (born 20 September 1982) is a German musician, composer, and record producer based in Berlin. He is known for combining classical and electronic music and for an unconventional approach to the piano in which he mixes a grand piano, upright piano, Roland Juno-60, Rhodes piano, drum machines, and Moog Taurus. As well as his solo work, Frahm has released collaborations with such notable performers as Anne Müller, Ólafur Arnalds, F. S. Blumm and Woodkid.

Nils Frahm has really struck a wonderful balance here. Since the day Nils first encountered the impressive studio of a family friend, he had envisioned to create one of his own at such a large scale. Fast forward to the present day and Nils is now the proud host of Saal 3, part of the historical 1950s East German Funkhaus building beside the River Spree.
