On From the Human Forest. we hear Benjamin's anger, torment and vulnerability, but never does he sound weak or resigned (this development would sadly occur two albums later). Although quite limited and monochromatic, I find his vocal delivery here genuinely affecting, even after so many listens, and most notably during those pummelling, chord-dense, sorrowful sections. However, there is a disturbing lack of tits and nudity on the album artwork of "From the Human Forest Create a Fugue of Imaginary Rain," and being the testosterone-fueled bro that I am, this is a huge problem.

To say From The Human Fores. s nasty doesn’t begin to cover the full horror. To say it’s crazily debauched, viciously spiteful and genuinely unnerving is closer, but it still can’t quite convey how monumentally fucked-up it truly is – and overlooks the occasional moments of brightness. VOICES were formed in London in 2011 as a new experiment from Benjamin, Gray and Loynes, also joined by London producer Dan Abela of Legacy Studios.
