Horace Andy (born Horace Keith Hinds, February 19, 1951, Kingston, Jamaica), is a roots reggae songwriter and singer, best known for his distinctive vocals. After having recorded for many Jamaican producers and labels through the 1970's and 1980's (Studio One, Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, Derrick Harriott, Keith Hudson, Augustus "Gussie" Clarke, Tapper Zukie, Everton Da Silva, Lloyd Barnes,. he became known by the mainstream public with his collaborations with Bristol's trip hop band Massive Attack.
Emotive vocalist Horace Andy was born Horace Hinds, the younger cousin of another Jamaican treasure, Justin Hinds. Like seemingly every other performer on the island, Andy found his first success at Coxsone Dodd's Studio One before leaving and becoming an active freelancer, working with numerous producers, including Niney Holness, Bunny Lee, Joe Gibbs, and Augustus Pablo. Andy's one-of-a-kind falsetto, which soared over the highest tenor, had a tangible, vulnerable quality to it, and a spooky, angelic eeriness marks most of his vocals

However, Andy's solo album from this time, 1993's Rude Boy, was notable only for the appearances of Bunny Clarke and Ricky General. The following year found the singer cutting the "Seek and You Will Find" single for British producer Dennis "Mixman" Bedeau. That song titled his next full-length record the following year, with Bedeau creating an album's worth of simmering rhythms that made this set one of the most crucial . reggae albums of the decade
