Rennie Pilgrem's first mix album for the dance imperialists at Perfecto is the second in the series of Perfecto Breaks records, after Lee Coombs' 2002 volume. Perhaps reflecting the conservative bent of Perfecto itself circa the turn of the century, Pilgrem's mix is curiously subdued, heavy on the melodics but quite light on the innovation and energy. He blends tracks from breaks ambassadors Ils, Blim, and Koma & Bones with producers much closer to straight trance (Moguai, General MIDI, and Perfecto's own Timo Maas, albeit in a Pilgrem remix).

Rennie also features the latest of the latest breaks tunes from likeminded producers such as the new Meat Katie meets Elite Force Ju Ju, on a dirty housebreaks tip which uses a lot more bass than their first effort, Toba (no the CD player isn't broken, there is a 2 second silence in there. To end all the funked-up breaks madness, Pilgrem gets all tripped out with his trippy Tripped-Out Mix of Mara's Turning It On, which gets the mix all mellowed out, showing us that Rennie isn't always about the charged up hard tunes.

This album holds truer to being a mixed set. Track transitions are much longer than Coombs. Pilgrem also went with more recent (for 2003) track selection, but unfortunately chose to fuse tracks on two seperate occasions (tracks 10 and 12). Never been a big fan of track fusion. Despite this album being an obvious break beat set also, that is pretty much where the similarities between Pilgrem's and Lee Coombs' (very successful) series premier end. This album holds truer to being a mixed set.
