Julius Ernst Wilhelm Fučík (18 July 1872 – 15 September 1916) was a Czech composer and conductor of military bands. Fučík spent most of his life as the leader of military brass bands. He was a prolific composer, with over 300 marches, polkas and waltzes to his name. As most of his work was for military bands he is sometimes known as the Bohemian Sousa. Today his marches are still played as patriotic music in the Czech Republic.

Julius Fučík (Czech: ) (23 February 1903 – 8 September 1943) was a Czechoslovak journalist, an active member of Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, and part of the forefront of the anti-Nazi resistance. He was imprisoned, tortured, and executed by the Nazis. The composer Luigi Nono wrote a musical piece titled Julius Fučík based on the journalist's diary Notes from the Gallows and meant it as a tribute to his resilience in the face of Nazi aggression.

Julius Fucik is known primarily for a single work, The Entrance March of the Gladiators, and really, though almost everyone knows the work, few know the composer's name. In fact most people know only the first third of the work and they know it as circus music, usually played when the clowns appear. Perhaps it could have been called The Entrance March of the Clowns, as it always did sound a bit too jolly for gladiators, but in fact Fucik first titled it "Grande Marche Chromatique". The marches here oddly do not include his other famous one, The Florentine March. Of the three included, the Attila is the most interesting as it actually sounds Hungarian. Yes, Attila was a Hun from central Asia and not a Hungarian, but they do claim him as their own). Julius Fucik is one of the greatest 19th century composers The album was great.
