The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada is a reserve infantry regiment in 34 Brigade Group, 2nd Canadian Division of the Canadian Army. The regiment is located on Bleury Street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and is currently commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Bruno Plourde, CD. The regiment's armoury was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2008. They are the senior Canadian-Scottish Regiment.

1) This is a band mace of the 42nd Highlanders. At the very top is a silvered St. Andrew holding the cross. The top is chrome with a silvered copper flaming bomb with the King's crown over the Royal Arms of Great Britain on the body. The shaft is cane with silvered chains and the bottom 15 inch section is also silvered. Measures approximately 64 inches long. 2) 42nd Highlanders pipe banner. Dark blue cloth with gold fringe. There is a crown over the regimental crest on both sides. 3) Drum majors sash composed of dark blue fabric with gold lace along the edges. There is a crown at the top.

Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) during WW1. Since 1815 the balance of power in Europe had been maintained by a series of treaties. In 1888 Wilhelm II was crowned ‘German Emperor and King of Prussia’ and moved from a policy of maintaining the status quo to a more aggressive position. 23 March 1943: The 1st Battalion was amongst units which took over from 50th Division on the south side of the Wadi, ready to attack. 26 March 1943: The Germans had withdrawn and the following day the Battalion along with other troops marched into the town, Gabes. May 1943: The battalion was moved to Djidjelli in Algeria to be trained in amphibious landings.
