Reptile is the fourteenth solo studio album by Eric Clapton. The album was produced by Eric Clapton with Simon Climie and is Clapton's first album to include keyboard work by Billy Preston and background vocals by the Impressions. The album reached the Top 10 in 20 countries, topping the national album charts in three of them. In total, the album sold more than . million copies and gained several certification awards around the globe.

This recent release of Eric Clapton is a big time improvement over the hip hop fused and drum machine laden Pilgrim release. Eric does explore a few cachy pop music styles and does play afew captivating solos here and there. However, there is not enough heavy guitar sounds. I thought Reptile to lack the creativity that I have loved in his music. His themes (musically and thematically) seem stale. I have only listen to the album twice and have no desire to go back.

Eric Clapton claimed in the press release for Back Home, his 14th album of original material, that One of the earliest statements I made about myself was back in the late ’80s, with Journeyman. This album completes that cycle in terms of talking about my whole journey as an itinerant musician and where I find myself now, starting a new family. After a brief blues detour on 2004’s Me and Mr. Johnson, Clapton returns to the sound and feel of Reptile for Back Home, but he doesn’t seem to be as tentative or forced as he did there. Instead, he eases comfortably into the domesticity that isn’t just the concept for the album, it’s reason for being.

As befits a bluesman Eric Clapton, makes his best music if it bad with him. Just think of the beautiful Tears In Heaven that he wrote after the death of his son. In the periods that the private went well with him, attacked his albums usually against. Pilgrim from 1998 was such a setback and that came partly because producer Simon Climie had smoothed out all the rough edges. Also Reptile was produced by Climie, but the ' good news ' (for us) is that Clapton has experienced something sad: Eric's half-brother Adrian (nickname: The Reptile) is deceased. The instrumental title track, that beautiful withheld is played, is assigned to it. Other highlights on this cd are the covers Travelin' Light (written by J.J. Cale) and the bluesy Come Back Baby (Ray Charles). For the rest sounds Reptile again just as slick as its predecessor: many quiet numbers which are tastefully arranged, but we would like to hear a few ripping guitar solos by Eric Clapton.
