Made in Japan is a double live album by English rock band Deep Purple, recorded during their first tour of Japan in August 1972. It was originally released in December 1972, with a US release in April 1973, and became a commercial and critical success.

Recorded over three nights in August 1972, Deep Purple's Made in Japan was the record that brought the band to headliner status in the . and elsewhere, and it remains a landmark in the history of heavy metal music. Since reorganizing with singer Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover in 1969, Deep Purple had recorded three important albums - Deep Purple in Rock, Fireball, and Machine Head - and used the material to build a fierce live show.

Getting a professionally mixed copy of the complete Deep Purple "Made in Japan" concerts has been one of my musical Holy Grails since I first slapped my import copy of that album on my turntable back in 1972. The bar has been raised in the remastering process over the original Made In Japan release by a substantial margin. This new boxed set sounds so close to the real experience it's worthy of massive praise. I respect the mastering of the original release, but this release is truly in a league of it's own.
