Talk about Élansson - Descalzando Pt. 3

Freaky Hook
This is the third release élansson gives as seven-disc serie of remixes, covers and b-sides. It goes slowly through a sound-story to develope a text started on his debut Articulata (año 2010, JacobinoDiscos, Jac21, Chile), and called "Del Agua y Su Evaporación", where every chapter is headed by the Articulata track-titles, and every EP-title released after. This miniserie of discs has opened a calling to every musician to remix or cover tracks from Articulata, trying to achieve the target of integrate different voices from the independent music in a common work-space.In this occasion, "Descalzando Pt. 3" comes to tell the incarnation of a wandering soul into a pudú, which also embodies the madness of the wandering chilean boy who was murdered in a trip to Tepui Roraima. This reminiscence of soul drives the animal to be an unavoidable part of the southern sea of his country, as a step of a major expedition. The sounds take a warmer and more uniform structure than in the predecesor Eps, the variety of the songs ir remarkable though. The album starts with a sticky rythm track, Javier Palma's magnificent percussions and dark reminiscences, a goldsmith of sound and jewelry that usually crosses acousmatic and dark ambient. Next to it we found a subtle vocal collaboration that gives the words "sería fácil nadie al acecho/aun si no fuera un hecho/de contento no" (it would be easy with no one stalking/even if it's not a fact/not of joyfulness) referring to the song "De Contento Hecho" (Joyfulness-made). Valentina Villarroel comes with a contemplative track, full of soundscapes, yet not much suspense than in track 6, by Nick Salazar. The beats are back with Gepe's remix, obliging the ironical and introvertive original sounds of the song to surge. Camilo Poblete with its Battoile, adds a folk-naive spirit to its version. Then we found the original track where all this collaborations started from. Between environmental recordings and many chords we've got voices barely strong to resound, but making clear that "Contento Señor Contento" from San Alberto Hurtado it's just an ironic smile that reveals the chilean mediocrity and conformism about giving and letting be. The EP ends with a souvenir from homy-music-sessions that evoques in a certain way the Coco Rosie's and Devendra Banhart's naivity. Alvaro Castro a.k.a élansson(Santiago, Chile, Feb. 2013)
