Kansas - The Prelude Implicit flac album

The Prelude Implicit is the fifteenth studio album by American progressive rock band Kansas, released in September 2016. It is their third studio album without founding member, lead vocalist and keyboardist Steve Walsh, who retired from the band in 2014; the other two being 1982's Vinyl Confessions and 1983's Drastic Measures.

The Prelude Implicit is the work of a band fully in their stride, a band who are comfortable and confident in their musical arrangements and performances. Newcomers Ronnie Platt (lead vocals/keys), David Manion (keys), and Zak Rizvi (guitars) sound fully integrated, and their contributions allow Kansas to pull off arrangements that just haven’t been possible (or desired?) since Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh were in their prime. Well-grounded enthusiasm aside, the album is not entirely without flaws. Robby Steinhardt’s vocals are missed, as they have been on most Kansas albums since Vinyl Confessions. This claim is no mark against Platt’s excellent work, but rather a nod to the special quality that contrasting lead vocals brought to other classic Kansas albums. Greer and Ragsdale have proven themselves capable lead vocalists, so it would be nice to hear more adventurous vocal arrangements–possibly with three alternating lead vocalists?–on future albums.

This marks the first Kansas album featuring vocalist Ronnie Platt, who replaced original singer Steve Walsh when he left in 2014. Williams told Ultimate Classic Rock in a 2015 interview that "we hit the jackpot with Ronnie. Platt was the frontman of Kansas City-based Shooting Star, who impressed Williams with his command of the stage. Recording 'The Prelude Implicit' was an incredible experience, and I couldn't be happier with the results," Platt says in the release.

The Prelude Implicit" is a high quality comeback album from Kansas, as we would have expected less. The first half of the disc is its center of gravity, with splendid tunes as opener "With This Heart" and the touching "Refugee". philv October 19, 2016 14:38. Wow such amazingly high scores! I have to be the party pooper then. I SO wanted to love this but the song writing just isn't that memorable. However the production is out of this world making it a wonderful delight for the ears.

It's been 16 years since Kansas has released a studio album. Even with that 16 year gap, the legacy of the Progressive Rock team still somewhat remains in the jaded hearts of many fans of Classic Prog Rock. Known for their smashing hits Carry on Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind, Kansas helped kickstart the rise of Progressive Rock in the 1970's along with other stalwarts like King Crimson, Styx, and Pink Floyd.
