Kiss traces their roots to Wicked Lester, a New York City-based rock band led by Gene Simmons and they recorded one album, which was shelved by Epic Records, and played a handful of live shows. Simmons and Stanley, feeling a new direction was needed, abandoned Wicked Lester in 1972. Simmons and Stanley met him in a nightclub where he was playing drums, after hearing Criss sing, they thought of him being in the band. 7. Ace Frehley – Paul Daniel Ace Frehley is an American musician and songwriter best known as the former lead guitarist and founding member of the rock band Kiss. He invented the persona of the Spaceman or Space Ace and played with the group from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. After leaving Kiss, Frehley embarked on a career, which was put on hold when he rejoined Kiss in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour.

The best Kiss albums represent the best releases from the hard rock band. With hits like "Detroit Rock City" and "Shout It Out Loud," "Destroyer" has since been deemed one of the 500 greatest albums of all time by "Rolling Stone" magazine.
When fans pick the best Kiss album of the non-makeup years they usually point to either the first, 1983's Lick It Up, or the last, 1992's Revenge. But while the former boasts a stellar title track and not much else, and the latter finds the band trying just a little too hard to be well, hard, Hot in the Shade stands tall as a surprisingly solid slab of late-Eighties hard rock.
Our vote for best Kiss studio album cover goes to this Michael Doret-designed ound. The band is pictured as a four-headed monster, each with a background quadrant (space, fire, heaven, the jungle) designed to match their personas. The cover for Kiss' double-live masterpiece 'Alive!' was not shot at an actual concert. Instead, the band posed for photographer Fin Costello at a nearby empty arena following their Detroit gig. Nevertheless, the "Status Quo" pose, as Gene Simmons labeled it, conveyed the energy found within the record perfectly. You Think You Know Kiss?
It's interesting that the three volumes of Kiss' Millennium Collection (shouldn't that be "Kollektion"!) have been broken into 1974-1979, 1982-1990, and now 1992-1999 with Volume 3, the weirdest of the bunch. Instead, Volume 3 has to cover the last bit of the non-makeup years and the big reunion of the original members along with the ugly, bloated new album that came with it, Psycho Circus. Best part of this whole era was the reunion tour, but that remains undocumented officially on CD, so with nothing to pull from, Volume 3 has to pull everything released around and outside of the main event.
