Keb' Mo's self-titled album was released on Okeh Records, a vintage revival division of Sony Music. In 1996, he released Just Like You, his second album, which featured twelve songs full of Delta rhythms On June 10, 1997, Moore performed on the television program Sessions at West 54th. He joined musicians Laval Belle on drums, Reggie McBride playing bass, and Joellen Friedkin on keyboards to perform fourteen songs, some from each of his albums. Handy Award for Best Country/Acoustic Blues Album of the Year, 1995.

Surprieze - Zeer Oude Klanken En Heel Nieuwe Gelui. Irmin's Way - Opus Destroy (1976). Mo - First Album (1976). Bead Game - Baptism (1970). Bead Game - Welcome (1970). Blackwood Apology - House Of Leather (1969). Children of One - Children of One (1969). Proud Mary - Proud Mary (1972).

This astonishing album is the creation of a relatively unknown genius named Moe Whittemore, who also founded the studio 700 West in New Palestine Indiana. Notice they released the 1976 Sailor album I featured recently this summer, plus other famous unknown progressive gems. That Maelstrom Paradigm album from them, for those who have heard it (I don't actually recommend it) is absolute atonal progressive noncommerciality, showing the artistic dedication of this particular studio head. But back to his first album

Keb’ Mo’ witnessed first-hand the aftermath of a destructive tornado. I thought about what it must be like to live in Oklahoma and all the great people that have come from Oklahoma, he recalls. With just a melody in his head for a song about Oklahoma and little personal connection to the state, the title track was almost never conceived. That is until the hands of fate led him to the meeting of, and songwriting session with Dara Tucker, an Oklahoma native. Keb’ Mo’ has dedicated Oklahoma to his late mother, Lauvella Cole, who passed away in September 2018 at the age of 91. Of the album, he says: I’d been working on a lot of records for other people, so I worried that it might be a weak record because I didn’t have my eye on the ball and was spreading myself too thin. But when all was said and done, we found the songs and we got the feeling right, and now I feel really, really proud of it.

King’s first album for the Stax label combines his hard, unflashy guitar playing with the sleek sound of the label’s house band, Booker T. and the MG’s. Hits such as Crosscut Saw and Laundromat Blues earned King a new rock & roll audience. 490. ZZ Top, ‘Tres Hombres’.

The album Mo Kolours follows a trilogy of EPs for One-Handed Music that mixed soul, dub, hip-hop, various electronic styles and the Sega music native to Mauritius. Recognising Mo’s singular voice Gilles Peterson invited him to Maida Vale Studios to record a live session for the BBC before his first EP had even hit the shelves. There’s an exotic appeal to Mo Kolours and his music but there’s also something very British about this record

This is an absolutely wonderful album. People probably think I'm crazy, driving down the road, singing along at the top of my lungs to his songs. Format: Audio CDVerified Purchase. Record came warped had to return for replacement. The vinyl being used is too thin. Otherwise an excellent KEB MO album.
