Beginnings, released in 1971, was a double album, combining The Allman Brothers Band's first two albums, The Allman Brothers Band and Idlewildsouth respectively, on one disc. It may just be my personal opinion, but I think the Allman Brothers are the kings of southern rock. While they lost guitarist Duane Allman to a tragic motorcycle accident after only a few years together, they continued to make great albums (such as the classic Eat A Peach) even after his death and dominate the other great southern rock bands of that time .

The Allman Brothers Band. Originally issued in 1973, Beginnings was a two-record set that repackaged the Allman Brothers' first two releases, 1969's The Allman Brothers Band and 1970's Idlewild South. The music captures the Allmans in their early stage and features soon-to-be deceased members Duane Allman and Berry Oakley.

The front cover depicts them at one of their many famous performances at the Fillmore East. He has played with The Allman Brothers Band, Project Z, Derek Trucks Band, Jimmy Herring was born on January 22,1962, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, the son of a high school English teacher, and a North Carolina Superior Court judge.

Beginnings" is the joining of the Allman Brothers Band's first two albums, which were both underappreciated masterpieces considering how tasty, tight, & timeless the music is. I had no idea they were not commercially successful albums that did not place high on the charts until I recently read Gregg Allman's book "My Cross To Bear," and heard him say during a recent interview that they both stayed around 200 "with an anchor. I have been listening to the ABB for about 40 years. The Allman Brothers album is straight blues/rock done quite tastefully. It contains the studio version of Whipping Post that became a staple of their live shows. Though this is classic 70's music it holds up extremely well over time due to the Allman's uncomplicated, straightforward style. This disc is indispensable for fans of the Allman Brothers or the Blues/Rock genre.

Title: Allman Brothers Band: Beginnings. Description: The Allman Brothers Band. I own Mofi's sacd release of the first Allman brothers album and I am a fan of Mofi's effort. One does have to take the good with the bad however as the transfer easily highlights the weak recording and the age of the tapes. Allmans voice is pushed back into the mix and I didn't like that one bit. Mofis effort was very good and it has a specificity of sound that comes from the master tape source
