Best of the Beast was Iron Maiden's first "best of" album, released in 1996 in three formats: a 34 track (four disc) vinyl, a 27 track (two disc) CD, a 16 track (single disc) CD and MiniDisc.

The definitive Iron Maiden Album. I would actually say that Power slave is better to listen to but tracks "Number of the Beast" and "Run to the hills" are all time classics and were so important for metal and Maiden at the time. Hallowed be thy Name" is an absolutely fantastic track also. If you want to get into Iron Maiden, get this and Power slave and you will be hooked. If not the best Iron Maiden epic, Empire of The Clouds written by Bruce, oooh man, what an incredible journey is that 18 minutes song, the melodies of the piano. I have listened to many an Iron Maiden album, and like any album by any band, there are songs on each that I don't care for (ironically, most of them tend to be the title track). In fact, most Iron Maiden albums net me three, maybe four songs that I listen to again and again. I love 'em, but they're not perfect.

Every Iron Maiden Album Ranked From Worst To Best. There is only one reason that The Number Of The Beast is not sitting at the top of this list, and it’s name is Gangland. One filler track aside (and yes, I agree, they should have put Total Eclipse on instead), Bruce’s first album with Maiden is a wall-to-wall triumph. Never mind the classic singles, listen to Children Of The Damned or Hallowed Be Thy Name or 22 Acacia Avenue and try not to feel instantly better about your life.

The Trooper- This is the other Iron Maiden song everyone knows I think the guitars in the intro are great. I like the oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh that Bruce and the guitarists put in but other that that the song is great. Hallowed Be Thy Name- The inrto was standard and this song isn't as hard as the end of a Metal cd should be I'm suprised they didn't put The Wickerman on this cd or wrathchild but overall this cd was great.
