The Táin is an album by Irish rock band Horslips. Their second studio album, it was Horslip's first attempt at making a concept album, an idea they would return to in 1976 with The Book of Invasions: A Celtic Symphony. The Táin was based on the Táin Bó Cúailnge (The Cattle Raid of Cooley), one of the most infamous legends of Early Irish literature, dealing with the war between Ulster and Connacht over a prize bull.

More congenial than attention-grabbing, Aliens still has some of the Irish energy of the early Horslips releases, but it's soon dissipated in the rock elements that form the majority of this semi-concept album (about Irish emigration to America). Not the worst of Horslips' albums, but overall, it's uninteresting.

ALIENS, an awesome album by Irish Rockers 'Horslips'slipped into the stream of public conciousness amidst the tumult of the mid 1970's (yes children, an entire century ago!), now the band has resurfaced on a number of rerelease albumns and yes ALIENS is worthy of attention. If you like fun kick of the heels, 'Hell' with it and dance, or Doneybrook, or fight type music, these Irish kids deliever. Horslips, then, may have been shortfooted, for they at the same time were eager it seems to leap into the mainstream.
